Hello! My name is Richard D. Driver and I'm an Associate Professor and the Coordinator of the History Department at McLennan Community College.
My scholarship focuses on the cultural and historical impact of popular music, particularly the Beatles and the post-Beatles career of Paul McCartney. I am a regularly contributor and presenter in the Beatles Area at annual meetings of the Popular Culture Association. Three of us from the Beatles Area at PCA are guest co-editing a special issue on "The Beatles and Media Today" for Rock Music Studies: please check out our call for papers (deadline is 11/15/2025)!
My first book, That Was Me: Paul McCartney's Career and the Legacy of the Beatles, was published in 2023, and I have contributed chapters in a number of additional collections. From 2016-2019, I contributed music reviews for Pop Matters, including Paul McCartney's Egypt Station (2018). In 2025, I joined the editorial board of the Journal of Beatles Studies.
I live in the Waco, Texas-area with my wife and daughter.
